Float over images for information		Located in a breathtaking area on the west coast of South Harris. The site presented many challenges particularly the steeply sloping topography and substantial water run off from surrounding hills. Constructing developments of this nature within the Outer Hebrides is always difficult given the costs of materials and transportation of same together with labour costs.
We were keen not to build inappropriately within the existing isolated village vernacular pattern. The development is cut into the hillside utilising retaining wall technology. The form of the development has been influenced by the topography and the clients’ brief requiring a modern translation of an historic blackhouse form.
